OK here's my pay site rant. I'm on my soapbox.
I believe in honesty to, and have no reason to boot you, or your
post. 1) it's on related topic. 2) It's not abusive in nature.
I do promote my pay sites here, but that's not the primary purpose of
these groups, it's to connect with the people that don't for
whatever reason, money, beliefs, etc, visit pay sites. Because for
me, both my yahoo groups, and my pay sites, exist for the same
reasons, for me to express myself, and find places for other people
with shared interests to see what that is, and hopefully find some
self expression and growth as well.
I started yahoo groups after running pay sites for three years, so I
could talk with, connect, learn from, and with, and be a part of
communities of people with similar interests who either can't or
won't pay for the work I do.
If my main purpose was to promote my sites, these groups would be
like all the other yahoo groups. Most of my posts and time would go
into promoting them, instead of doing onlne sub training that I
charge nothing for, except some idle subtle threats/pleas for
donations that mostly go unheard. Why, because most people, like
you, believe it should all be free. I can't argue with that, I
cruise a lot more free 'porn' myself than I do porn I pay for, why
not, there is a tonne of it available, some good, some not.
If I wanted to make money on yahoo groups, I tell you what I would
do, and it's simple enough to do. I'd open about 100 of them, I'd
make it so that I had to approve all messages, and make most of the
group about my websites. More importantly, I'd have my home page
html code pop up directly to my website, maybe to a series of sites
that pay me per click as well. Simple enough to do. I'd do the
same with my websites, they'd be pop up hell zones with no content,
or stolen content, or cheap to buy content packages, because that's
the fastest easiest way to make an unethical buck on the web in the
adult online industry.
In terms of the 'really good stuff' being mostly free, I actually
agree with you there, many pay sites, just recycle the same fakey
images over and over again, no original content. Or, if they want
more amateurish content, a lot of them steal it from yahoo groups
and other places, or buy cheap content, or do cross content sharing,
so you see the same images over and over and over again. Which is
why I only post a small section of my own images 'for free' not
because I don't want to give it all away, but because I usually end
up seeing my hard work, plastered everywhere else, sometimes with
people claiming it's not only their work, but sometimes that me, the
person in the picture, is actually them!!! Which is the main reason
I tag them with my urls and group names as well, to discourage
people from re-using them, most of the real scum out there won't
bother taking images they have to crop a label off the bottom of,
like stealing wallets why go for someone with one on the inside
pocket, when Joe blow behind him has his half out his back one.
I don't make any more money on my 'pay sites' than I do on my yahoo
groups. Why, because I spend hours each week posing and
photographing (the fun part) more hours each week editing and doing
layout and design (half fun, half not so fun) more time coding and
creating the pages and uploading them (not so fun). More time
paying hosting fees, doing paperwork to keep it all legal, paying
other related bills, and fighting off hackers, pass code stealers,
porn hating virus planters, top list hijacking hackers, and other
people that try to attack the site indirectly or directly for either
personal, moral, or for their own greed to steal, and use our space,
our images, and our hard work.
I challenge you to put up a pay site. Go for it 'sell out' make the
big bucks. Find out just how good we've got it. Do it the way I do
it though. Keep everything on the up and up. Don't break any
copyright laws, create all original content. Don't take or use
pictures unless you have a signed legal model release contract and a
piece of photocopied ID, so you can prove consent and legal age.
I have had pay sites for three years. For the first year, we were in
the red, more money out than in, year two, about even, this year, we
can honestly start to say (we being my husband and kinky partner in
many many lovely ways) that we are making a profit. I think we each
per hour make, mmmm, maybe half what the one of the kids working in
a third world factory make per hour. (That's if we don't factor in
year one and year two, in that case.. overall, we'd just be about
equal in what we've so far put out)
Why is this letter a big long rant in response to yours. Because
I'm tired of the stereotypical bashing crap I get for doing what I
do. When I love what I do, because that's the only sane reason for
doing it.
If I were rich, and not home living on a disability pension for
depression and related problems that make it difficult to work, with
a loving partner who has had to quit his own outside the home work
to be able to stay at home and care-take for me on those days that I
need it, which due to my illness, are totally unpredictable. I
would run free websites. (not just yahoo groups, because a website
allows WAY more freedom of expression and way more options design
wise, content wise, etc, etc)
If you knew me, and maybe even visited my sites, you would see I
give a lot away, I do a lot of work, I bare my soul in my online
journal on a regular basis. I sincerely love and care about what I
do. And about people. 'Material' is not usually the first word
that comes to mind to people who really know me.
I know, you, and many others, probably won't believe me, what I've
written, and I accept that. The world is jaded, cynical, critical,
judgmental, greedy, closed up, possessive, competitive, and phony.
And THAT is precisely what motivates me to do what I do do. I'm
sick of it. I'm sick of the oppressive acceptable stereotype roles
people are supposed to fit into, gender wise, sexuality wise, and
otherwise. My biggest profits come from when I feel like through my
words, or my images, and all the shit loads of hard work that go
around that, I've helped someone else, live a life a little less
free of all the crap that we build up around ourselves because of
damaging and restricting societal conventions that are mostly
created by elite power hungry mainstream business/political figures
who have their own best interests in mind. My real pay, is probably
a combination of the occasional fan mail I get, and just the hope,
that like the story of the butterfly that flaps its wings on one
side of the world makes a gale on the other, that some of my
actions, words, images, can some way play a small part in creating a
life with less limitations, if not today, down the road to come.
I hope that your post, and my response to it, encourages people to
join your yahoo group.
I support and encourage the trans community, and have many real life
friends that are a part of it (one of my close friends, who has
pictures on my site... who is trans, in an alternative, less
acceptable non-Barbie way, she's butch, punkish, gothic babe, just
had her surgery Yay!) she says when she's healed enough, she wants
me to be the one to take pictures of her beautiful (I got to see it,
and it's gorgeous!) new pussy. In fact I try and support and
encourage anyone who is trying to be themselves, and shed away the
oppression of societal convention.

Most of all, I hope this post promotes everyone reading it, I hope
it charges them up some how inside, I hope it revs up just a little
more of that corner of them that wants to figure out all the parts
of who they HONESTLY are, and live it, and make it real. I hope it
makes them say 'you go girl'! and 'I'm going too!'. I honestly
know, despite all my best efforts, my hardest articulations, by most
sincere depictions of what I feel to be true and beautiful, through
images, words, or posts like this one, will still and always face
the opposite thoughts, the jaded and cynical feelings, from
people who all their life have encountered the norm, which is not
honesty, which are masks, illusions, stereotypes, around
competitive, capitalistic, materialistic greed and other 'taught'
value systems. And it's those of you, who don't trust me, and don't
believe me, and dislike me, that I fight hardest to reach.
It's just my damn nature. In part, it's one of the ways I struggle
for it not to get me down. If I can be good at just one thing, I
want it to be finding ways to get people to love and accept
themselves and one another. I'll do it any way I can. Often, at
great personal expense, usually, unfortunately, not material
(bankruptcy was easy, hospitalization, was not).

to cheat and keep reading). Or, you can dish out the big 5$,

sell that content, and make a profit. Why not, it's only three
years of my life. What do I care.
That's it, I'm getting bitter and down, time to get breakfast and
see if there is anything on TV, which is unlikely on a Sunday.
One more note, don't bash Pat, support her (his?) groups, if they
interest you. It's a world full of crap, it's not unusual for most
of us to get mistaken for another steaming pile.
