Nov 7, 2002 - Fallen in Fall

Well, the weather started pouring down rain today, and the forecast is for rain for as far as they can safely forecast it.  We've had remarkably clear weather for Vancouver BC over the last few weeks, months even.  Yesterday it started to drizzle, the rain started to fall, just after we had completed our photo shoots outdoors.  One where I lay in piles of crisp dry fall leaves and bracken, right actually where the rain forest meets the ocean, on Vancouver's Wreck beach, which is our official nude beach.  We were very exposed, and we had a few watchers, but it was all strictly legal, so, everyone was just pleased as punch.

So, it was very very good timing. I was totally nude in the leaves, and remarkably un-molested by small creatures, I like wildlife, but I prefer if they don't nest in my pubic hair, luckily, I don't have any <smile>.

It was a gorgeous setting, it was hard not to just stay and photograph and photograph, but the slight drizzling that could turn into heavy rain at any moment, combined with the tide that was raising rapidly and would make our trek back along the beach to the trail leading up to the road a very wet one (regardless of rain or no rain) if we didn't get a move on, got us to get moving!

It was a tiring day.

I know you can't tell it by the picture of me lounging in leaves, but it was, we did other photos too, where I chained up a sub boy to a big old tree in the woods and was very very mean to him.  I'm not sharing those today, I'm feeling stingy, and, I want to be the star of the show. <grin>

Also, the trail down to the beach, is long, and very very steep.  Lugging equipment, including heavy chain, all the way down, was not fun.  Topping, whipping, caning, tying people up, shifting leaves around, is also hard work... and then, climb back UP the trail.  Anyone that has visited wreck beach will sympathize. I hope it doesn't take the magic away from the imagery to know what goes into it.

Please though, don't think for a moment, what you are seeing isn't real.  Even though, in fact perhaps because we go to great lengths to play and photograph in certain locations and places, it becomes magical.  It becomes surreal.  Laying there, after doing a scene as a heavy top, after climbing down to the beach, laying in the leaves, surrounded below, around, above, by nature and beauty.  The smell of the leaves, of the forest, of the sea.  The ever changing color of the sky.  It was like being in a dream.  When I pose for pictures, and even when I take them, it's like I enter into them like another world.  I immerse myself in the context, the imagery, the play, the scene, the serenity.  It's like an artistic form of meditation, self reflection, play.

I felt heavy, heavy in a good way, like my body was very dense, yet very fragile, caressed and sunk into the sand and leaves.  In the womb of mother nature.  If you go back up to the image at the top now, and look, at my eyes, at my body posture, that I felt... languid, entwined with everything around me.  Content, at peace, whole.

Embrace the season.
