Did a little photo shoot last
night, just fooling around with the new strings of pearls I bought
yesterday and all the mandarins from China Town. I got all
vamped up and had some fun. Put on a mish mash of things, black
velvet fingerless gloves, white lace bustier.

Went a little crazy in the wig
department pinning a couple of wigs together to make a stacked mass of
curls.

Got a little sexy, and really enjoyed flirting with the camera a bit.

And of course, the mandarins were good.

That was nothing though compared to
the joy I had today. I never knew I could love a piece of
furniture so much, we were shopping in Chinatown today again, and we
were in a little store that sells antique furniture in the back of the
store, I was buying some of the paper they sell at new years with the
metal foil on them, thinking they would be nice to patch my shoji
screens with, mixing cultures I know, but hey. We browsed the
furniture at the back, and discovered they had certain pieces on 50%
off. It was an amazing deal, still, money is so tight, that were
selling a couple of other pieces of furniture it will be replacing,
and will have to do without any luxuries for a few weeks, cheap meals,
and no diet cola for me, but it's well worth it. I love it, love
it, love it. It's a 150 years old, and from the Northern Part of
China, and the wood is so... succulent. It's just rough, and
heavy, and solid, and it's sat in the store long enough, or maybe from
it's prior homes, that when you smell the wood, it smells like
incense. It's just yummy. I love it!

It's huge too, which is nice,
because we're using it for storage, as our place has no closets, being
an open design loft. It's over 4 feet wide, and about 2 feet
deep, and just over 6 feet high. It really fits our space with
the 16 foot ceilings, it has a good solid weight to it that matches
well. Of course it doesn't hurt that it's going into a space
already filled with Asian accents.
There was another one identical but
literally half the size, and I wish we could have afforded it as well,
and I would have stacked it's little brother on top of it, because of
the super high ceilings we could have gotten away with it, and then
stored things we don't really need to access often up in the little
brother (also 50% off). Maybe in a month or so, if it's still
there, and I can figure out something else to sell... who knows!
They also had ones that had a
red/paint stain, wedding cabinets, for the traditional colour red for
Chinese weddings, which we also really loved, but they were not on
sale, and just too rich for our blood. Considering the amount of
red in the loft anyways (half the walls), it was probably just as
well, the natural wood has it's own subtle tones that are just as
lovely.
You'll be seeing it again, I
already have plans to one photo shoot empty it out, lift out the
removable shelves inside, and shoot me, or some other lucky body/ies
inside, It's big enough for one big girl, or two small, with ease.
One of these days, I swear, I'll
get around to a photo tour of the loft, promise, I just need a
maid/houseboy in -first-.
