October 26th -

For those of you into the shaving scene.. Tomorrow at noon.. Friday Oct. 27th I'm going to have a little shear and shave in my bathroom.

I'm excited and a little nervous.  I will probably need Wolfe to help me with some parts... I think doing the back of my head alone would be a little too challenging.

I talked a little about Mishima, one of my cats the other day..

He's getting to be an old man now, not that you would ever know it.  At 13, he's still lithe and spry.  I adopted him from the local shelter all those years ago.  I had been looking for a cat just like him.  I pretty sure he's a pure bred oriental shorthair.  He has that ultra sleek Siamese build, pointy nose, big pointy ears.. oval paws.. long tail.  He's totally black, and he has enormous slanted green eyes.  He's my prince.  He's a real show off.. and I swear if he was a human being, he would be a 6 foot 5 black drag queen with an attitude and a bit of a belly.  He's also a mother hen, and likes to take care of everyone.. though in a bit of a bossy fashion.  Never was there more suitable a familiar...

Then two years later, there came Nezumi Neko..  (japanese for 'rat cat') and she's been part of my family for 11 years now.

She's a very noisy cat.  Also from the shelter. She's half Siamese.  She has the oriental build, but she's mostly black, with little flecks of gold and red here and there.. like someone has taken a small paintbrush to her, a very dark tortoise shell.  With yellow eyes.  And, the Siamese voice, which she likes to exercise with great frequency.

She has a bit of an attitude too.. mind you, don't all cats?

Nezumi Neko

Your name means Rat Cat in Japanese

it suits you well, though it may as well have been brat cat…

Mewling, begging, tender piteous screeling seduction

jet black shining coat

flecked and bespeckled with tiny flecks of golden and red

tortoise shell

tortoise shell

matching eyes of golden yellow

like old faded oak leaves at Autumn’s end

slit with shiny pupils tracking my fingers

click clacking on the keyboard.

Waiting for a break in the rhythm

an opening for the leap

to my lap

With effortless grace your arrival between my busy fingers is barely noted

The deep rumbling of happy satisfaction fills your small warm body

as you try to find just the right spot to settle

your tail wraps around my wrist

You hazard a raspy sandpaper kiss

and a cold wet nose presses the crook of my elbow

Do you know

that you have finally managed to make your way past my fingertips

and into the electronic kingdom

that will transport you to a paper land?

I wrote that one years ago.. Zuzu.. as she is most usually and affectionately called.. likes to sit with me while I'm on the computer.  Though now that the computer is up in the loft, and we have the steel ladder going up.  Well, cats seem to have a very strong aversion to walking on slippery metal surfaces.  They won't climb the ladder.

Hello Kitty, in my lap

For pause and cat nap.

 Kitty haiku.. :)

Okay.. enough cat poetry.  And enough Journal for today.. going out for a late lunch with my ex today.. the lovely V.  We're still good friends her and I, though I haven't seen much of her lately, sadly.  Lots of catching up to do!... and then to some second hand shopping at Value Village together! yay!
