July 31st - Back into civilization...

Well there has been the regular whirlwind of wonders to greet me back home.  I was called in last night to work a last minute relief shift, over-night shift, and since I'd over spent on vacation on some pottery, I couldn't resist picking the shift up to try and cover off my costs.

On our last day on the way back we stopped

at two potters studios, at one, we bought a
raven sculpture, (I collect them, the most
intelligent of birds, the most social... and
    those sleek black feathers...)

The potter's name is LeBaron, and he had an
    amazing studio/gallery with sculpture and
pottery everywhere, he had a number of
ravens, but this was the largest and most
    lovely of them.

The second potter specialized in Raku pottery, and unusual glazes, by the name of Hutchins.  The little
dish caught my eye immediately, the red glaze, rare
and difficult to do (done with copper), was the color
of fresh blood and the look of it on the bowl was
striking, I love red.  Then the two tea bowls... they
had all just come out of the kiln and were not yet
priced... they were costly, but we couldn't resist.
I only wish the web-cam captured the colors of the
glaze better.

So to basically, all together, the pottery cost us more than the rest of our vacation put together, and out of a need to balance it out some where, I worked last night away.

We've developed all the rest of the photos from vacation, and I've put a number of galleries up in the members area in Katt's Solo's galleries.   Though I'll post a little sampling of them here over the next few days as well...

here is the cabin that we stayed in
    small
    simple
    cozy...

We didn't spend much time indoors,
mostly just for food preperation and
sleeping, and one day of rain that
we had (though we swam in the rain
just the same as other days)

The outhouse is round the back...

So most of the time spent, was on the beach... and in the water, keeping cool and keeping clean!

There is absolutely nothing that compares to swimming nude in the ocean.

Some days it was calm, and the ocean was quiet, and others, like the day it rained... the ocean stormed and tossed, and the waves were crashing in around us... I loved that best of all, though it's certainly not picture taking weather.

Well... that's enough for today.. still lots more to share, but I'll spread it out, as it's all very fresh in my mind and in my image archives...

Looking forward to getting on the cam soon with some people and clippering off all this hair!!!
Will do that later this week (though not a shave this time, just a clip, I'll shave later in the month)
I'm not sure which day yet, and what time, Wednesday the earliest, and Saturday the latest... I'll keep you posted.

And tomorrow is the first of a new month.. and I'm helping some new friends who are moving into Vancouver move into their new place.. so I will be away most of the day tomorrow.
