July 14th VENT AND RANT
Don't get me wrong most members and guests are polite, respectful, some adoring and even worshipful... but then there are others... man oh man... I guess you have to take the bad with the good and you are always going to get stuff on either extreme with most falling in the middle. The classic bell curve found everywhere...
It's just the asshole end of the bell curve drives me nuts sometimes!
I detest getting mail full of suggestions on where I've gone wrong and what I should do to improve? I know some of these people mean well, but I am so tired of people asking me to do things I don't want to do with the tone of language that implies they feel I'm their personal performing monkey, or that I personally owe them, or that I'm an idiot in need of their brand of enlightenment. Don't get me wrong, I love feedback... and even suggestions, but positive feedback.. Why not say, something like "I just thought I would write you to let you know how much I enjoy your site, I really like such and such, and have you ever thought of doing such and such, that would be really neat. I appreciate that you are busy and probably get a lot of mail, so I'll understand if you don't have time to reply...". I don't expect that everyone will enjoy my site, but I do expect that the people visiting it do, and if they don't, I'd rather they just visit a site they do enjoy instead of trying to reform mine!.
Today within the same hour I got an email complaining that I would never make it as a site that features a 'plump' webmistress because I'm not big enough and I should gain at least 30 pounds.. and then someone else telling me that I would only be attractive if I lost 30-40 lbs.
Or that I should shave my eyebrows...
When will I be doing (fill in the blank with just about anything) live on the cam...
when will I come out with videos...
You know your site could show some promise if only you...
You know, I'd like to see the rest of your site, but it isn't fair for you to charge, your site is nice and all, but it isn't really worth to pay for it... you should really lower the price or make it free...
the list goes on for ever...
A lot of this would be stomach-able if people could format it in some of kind of half respectful way. At least make an effort to be polite or acknowledge something positive. I do get some of the above suggestions from people were it doesn't bother me at all, because the way they ask is generally positive and appreciative, rather than opinionated and demanding.
For the people that are less than satisfied... I'd just wish they'd go somewhere else to do it!
Sometimes you just need to rant...
