It seems every time I think the U.S. has hit an all time low, they manage to surprise me, you’d think I’d have squelched that by now. I’m Canadian myself, but know a number of decent intelligent wonderfull Americans. Though I must say that what is happening in terms of the war in Iraq and how they’ve delt with the latest crisis with the gulf hurricane aftermath, is beyond unbelievable.

I keep on thinking I’d like to go down and visit my brother and his family in San Francisco, go check out Folsom street fair… then I think do I really want to do that? Would have to go get a new passport, mine has expired, and then, do I want to put my vacation dollars south of the border… quite frankly, not really.

Watching Bush talking about launching an investigation on television into the hurricane mishandling, and he has this kind of weird smug look on his face, he has an almost slightly jovial look, and it’s completely innapropriate considering the subject matter, is the man completely retarted? How could a rich country with a powerful government, have allowed things to go so completely wrong?

Over here our news casts were talking about from day one that we had Canadian relief workers, supplies, and more just waiting to help, that we’d basically told the American government just ask for it, whatever we can do, we’ll do it. Problem is, no real reply, they actually did start to send some help down regardless as things were obviously continuing to worsen, it looks like we got the official go and military relief along with a chunk of our own emergency crisis supplies have been sent down.

Every time I watch the updates on the news, I’m in tears.

Definitely going to update our own emergency supplies, seeing as we don’t really have even so much as a complete first aid kit in residence.

The dogs and I did have a discussion though, and decided Wolfe would be the first one eaten if things were reduced to cannibalism… joking! Some times having a dark sense of humour is the only way I can deal with crisis in life.

The mouse problem in the house is still ongoing, and they seem to have gotten wise to the traps, and are ignoring them. We’ll have to add more traps. Maybe there is a way they’re getting in that we haven’t discovered yet.

Been daydreaming a lot about having property one day. Of being as self sufficient as possible, relying on natural sources of energy, and growing lots of our own food. Also having some animals, more dogs, fowl of various kinds, and I want a lactating goat to make our own cheese. Of course, I’m still counting on a fair bit of ’slave labour’ I want a D/s household where others are handling a lot of the load as I lord over the lot LOL.

Okay, I’m back to neopets and Letterman.
