Gone fishin’
Well, I went fishing for the first time today, though I myself didn’t actually do any fishing, the casting of the line out looked tricksy, and theres a hook on the end of that sucker! Besides, they call it a ’sport’ and that word intimidates me! Next time I’ll give it a go. Wolfe had gone out and bought rods and stuffs we would need. He had a bunch of stuff from eons ago, as he has been an avid fisher in the past. We drove out to Chilliwack with Tanuki and we fished in a little river out there in the country side. No luck. It was beautiful though and we saw an osprey dive and snatch a fish out just feet away from us and that was stunning. Saw a number of hawks and a couple of eagles. Also saw some red neck teens with paint ball guns and sling shots. Luckily no trouble there. The pugs were a bit frustrated, not getting to run around free. Usually when we’re in nature they are little romping hooligans. Iggy would have been swimming and splashing in the river… not so good for fishing, and Bella I was nervous might end up as bald eagle food, she’s just the right size. We did let them have a quick romp and swim and chase the ball just before we left as there was no one else fishing close by for them to bother, and I kept an eye on the sky for winged danger.
After giving up on fishing and admiring people with cows, goats and horses in their front yards, we stopped at a country market. Unfortunately they didn’t have any corn, still a bit early in the season I suppose. We did get HUGE baskets of cherries and blueberries, some nectarines and apricots as well. Also a locally made big coil of garlic sausage. We put everything in the trunk on the way home, but I swear I could smell the garlic sausage the entire trip.
No I’m home, and went fishing on neopets online instead, not much better luck there (it’s a small game thing they have). The marmot (Tanuki) went her own way home and Wolfe has headed off downtown to see if he can get a copy of the new Harry Potter book and to see if he can get me a copy of the movie Preaching to the Perverted, which I’ve seen and want to see again, and again, and again… Also he’s going to pick up some sushi, as a consolation fishing prize.
It’s the night market in Chinatown, we may head that way when he gets back. I’m feeling rather lazy now though. Last time we went to the night market a couple of weeks ago I came home with an ox bone snuff bottle carved in the shape of a giant fish standing on it’s tail and the mouth was the bottle opening, and inside the mouth is a stopper in the form of a lotus blossom, hugging up against the fish is a little man half the fishes size. They had some more that tempted me too, but didn’t want to spend that much, now if we go back again tonight, I might come home with another ox bone snuff box!
Wolfes just come home bearing sushi, so I’m off!
